Opening for a Business Unit Manager / Operations Officer

 

 

The Lebanon Green Building Council (LGBC) announces the opening for a Manager / Operations Officer for its ARZ Building Rating System. The successful candidate shall head the business unit (BU) in charge of the ARZ Building Rating System with the following tasks :


 

  • Handle the day to day operations and organizational issues of the business unit including review of projects documents, organize and follow up ARZ assessors activities, process the assessment reports submitted by the assessors, issue the rating for each project as endorsed by the support rating committee, provide technical support to assessors, visit the project site when deemed necessary, look into the complaints / appeals of clients and handle financial matters.
  • Hire additional staff and carry out all kind of procurement including for software development according to a set planning approved by the LGBC board.
  • Meet with potential clients and donors as well as contribute to awareness events organized by the LGBC.
  • Carry out small and medium scale improvements on the excel based rating tool without outside assistance. Supervise the switch of the rating tool to a more complex code.
  • Identify major improvements and recommend development of the rating tool within a well defined strategy.
  • Supervise and act as main coordinator of the development activities of the rating tool within the LGBC context.
  • Set up short, medium and long term strategies for the business unit and the related budgets to be approved by the LGBC board.
  • The successful candidate shall maintain good relations with the Board of Trustees of the ARZ Rating system and shall address all inquiries and concerns of the BOT. The minimum requirements for pre- qualification to this position shall be :

 
  • An engineering or an architectural degree.
  • A minimum of 9 years experience in the building industry.
  • Familiar with green building rating systems.
  • Being familiar with the ARZ rating system and / or having performed green building audits is a Plus.
  • Willing to commit to an intensive training(s) on the ARZ rating system, the assessment process and the rating tool.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel; ability to learn on rating software that will be developed by ARZ in the future. Proficiency in VBA code is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • NB: ARZ assessors are eligible to apply for this position after 3 years of assessment experience.


The Manager / Operations officer, shall report to the LGBC board.
The mandate shall be for a minimum of 2 years, renewable by mutual agreement.


The remuneration package shall be based on a fixed salary plus an incentive bonus based on performance. The Manager /Operations Officer shall relieve the business unit and the LGBC from any Tax charges or claims by the ministry of Finance resulting from the fees paid and received by her / him.
